4 Tips To Personalize Your Home

Hello Lovelies,

Does your home express your style?  When it comes to your home, it has to represent you. I love spaces that reflect the owner’s style and personality. I came across this definition by Bing – Personality is the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character. A simple reaction to this statement is that personality defines who we are and dictates our choices.  It is complex and unique. It evolves with time. I got you covered, now let’s see how to make our home reflect our personality.

  1. Know your personality – What is your personality? This is a great starting point. You can take a test here. According to the site, 16 personalities exist and through questions, they help you identify yours. Mine was Protagonist. It states at one place that I am warm. This characteristic could be used as a starting point to define my space for example.

2. Design your space for your lifestyle – Your lifestyle will determine the function of your space. All the people who will be using the space needs to be considered. Keep your children and partner in mind. What is their routine? How will space be used?

3. Take your time – To be able to incorporate the things you love, well it will take time. Keep your budget in mind. You may have the vision but not the wallet. You can collect things over time. There is no rush. Meanwhile, your home can reflect your past or where you are now. It could reflect where you are heading. Basically, you can pick one state or combine all the three picks to style your home.

4. Embrace Changes – Changes happen all the time. When you choose to downsize or upsize. It depends on you and your needs. Keep it fresh and fun.

7 Easy Ways To Love Your Home

Hello lovelies!

Let’s go back to the basics. A few months ago, I wrote about 5 steps to love your home again. It is true that many people struggle to love their home. When you look more into it, you will agree that most home lack style. Style does not mean breaking the banks, it is simply about cleverly incorporating things that you love into your home. Whoa, you have it!  Personally, I love digging through magazines and blogs for inspirations. You will think I’m about to plan my next project, but no, I have a guilty pleasure of looking into beautiful functional spaces. The key to love your space is to incorporate little things you love into your space. Be prepared to embrace your home as never before. It can be anything simple but with a big impact. Need some directions, start with some inspirations. Inspirations go a long way, it helps as a guide. Here are some more suggestions to reinvent your space.

1. Ideas are endless to add style. A texture in space is a great start. Something from fabric to an artwork. From Houzz

2. Color psychology impact how we feel about our home. Choose to live with things that you love. Incorporate your favorite colours with little accent pieces in the space. It can be pillows as seen here. From Sarah Richardson

3. Make a good first impression. Don’t neglect the entryway. Make your space inviting not just for your guests but also for yourself. An organized entryway can go a long way to calm those nerves. From Essenziale

4. It will not hurt to display books. Keeping some of your favourite books handy will help you appreciate your space. Books warm up a space. From onekindesign

5. Bring outdoor indoor. Natural elements like trees, flowers, wood, bricks are great indoors and it can be relaxing. From Freshome

6. Great way to make your place unique is with a scent. Invest in simmer pot or create a scent with essential oils as I mentioned here.

Focal Point: 7 Fabulous Ethnographic Styles

Hello Lovelies,

let’s get personal today. Love it or hate, home needs a focal point, which is ridiculously obvious, to create the right flow and atmosphere.  The simplest way to create a focal point in interiors is to highlight any home’s best architectural features, or manually add something in the space that will become a focal point. The reason for this is two folded: to accentuate what draw us in the space when we first look at it, and to remove the focus from things in the space that are less attractive.

Look at these spaces, do they move you? I was so moved by the added focal point on these spaces. I saw them, then love happened. All my eyes were in the photographs. There is something about these ethnic photos. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Take a look

Faux Real Plants: Indoor Gardening Made Simple

Hello Lovelies,

We discussed picking plants and  decor plants with a purpose. Do you stick to what you know? Artificial plants work well in the space. Since I’m not good with plants, I don’t find this tacky.  Plus, it is low maintenance. If you are like me and still working on overcoming your fears on real plants ( because you don’t trust yourself with real plants yet), fake plants works well in the space too. This smart update will make your home comfortable. It brings texture and style. Let’s take  a look.

Have you decided to go faux? Artificial plants make great centrepieces. This is the simplest low maintenance plants at its best. No need to stress yourself with the concept of watering and fertilizing. Occasional dust can be removed easily. Bring color and textures in your home with these beauties. You can mix and match, faux and real work well together too. Via Decorazilla

Picking and Styling: Indoor Garden

Hello Lovelies,

Picking and styling your garden really depend on your choice. First, I think you have to determine the function of the plant. Think light, how is the light in your space? The primary answer to this question will determine your selection. Understand your plant, learn and know what it takes to maintain it. The world wide web simplifies your plants’ guide. If you are ambitious, the net is a great source for your quest. My quest led me to two bloggers, they really summed it for me. Take a look.

Fiddle Leaf Tree is the plant I love seeing in space. It is huge but looks good. If you are looking for a good plant presence in the space, this is it. Indirect bright light and once in a while watering will keep this plant alive.

Tastefully Decorated Playroom

Hello Lovelies,

The tastefully decorated room is not just about style. It is really about where style meets function. Something that comes to mind to define this concept is when I see a teepee in a playroom. If the space permits, you can really elevate your playroom with a teepee. It looks warm and stylish. The teepee serves as a retreat space within a space. It creates a sense of adventure, indoor camping. I really love this. Take a look.
